Fragile System
Fragile System emerged from a garage in Orange County California in 2003. The five piece band founded by singer Danny Drake and Bassist Donnie Davis is considered one of the greatest things to never happen in rock. Though the band was technically talented and well known for extremely high energy live shows, the bands internal differences in musical taste and direction prevented the group from ever fitting into a specific musical category.
While Orange County has more recently become renowned for producing popular, Hardcore, Emo and Punk bands, Fragile System was always the counties odd child. Offering keyboard, sequencing and aggressive vocal in their music, Fragile System was often lumped into the Metal genre, however their insightfully lyrical and melodic approach to song writing proved to be contradictory to this placement. In other words Fragile System music confused the hell out of people.
Despite having never fit into a scene, Fragile System managed to influence many of their contemporaries and caught the attention of super producer Glen Ballard. In late 2003 Fragile System was taken under the wing of one of the most influential and highest selling producers in the history of music; Glen Ballard. Once the band began working with Glen, several major labels began entertaining the band, hoping to lure the group into a deal that would ultimately make them a hit making machine.
Unfortunately the groups internal conflicts and disgust with labels ridiculous demands of “hit writings” criteria began to tear the group apart. After several line up changes, the band finally threw in the towel in late 2005. Despite their brief history and having never achieved any form of commercial success, Fragile System left behind an extremely influential and beloved catalogue of timeless material.
